Doug Ball is a sailor who carried his oar inland until someone asked him what that thing was on his shoulder. After 20 years at sea, he was home. The scent of the trail replaced the scent of the sea and due to his adventurous #2 son, the sailor became the hiker and just had to go the whole way.
